Dalí, Brossa, Perejaume, and Mariscal reveal their Baroque soul in the new exhibition at the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya
El Museu del Barroc de Catalunya acull la nova exposició temporal «Persistències efímeres. Una postmodernitat barroca?», visitable fins al 6 de desembre a la Sala del claustre de l’equipament. Comissariada per Ricard Mas i dissenyada per L’Estudi de la Mirada (Jesús Galdón), la mostra connecta el patrimoni dels segles XVII i XVIII amb la creació catalana de finals del segle XX a través d’una cinquantena d’obres de creadors i creadores com Salvador Dalí, Joan Brossa, Perejaume, Jaume Plensa, Javier Mariscal o Eulàlia Valldosera.
The exhibition raises a fundamental question: to what extent has the Baroque soul of Catalonia — shaped between the 17th and 18th centuries — continued to manifest itself, albeit in transformed forms, in Catalan culture in recent decades; in this case, from the late 1970s to the year 2000?
«Persistències efímeres. Una postmodernitat barroca?» therefore invites us to revisit recent Catalan art, tracing the references to and the imprint of a period which, far from being confined to the past, endures as a living, complex and fully relevant sensibility in contemporary cultural expression.
