The temporary exhibition on the Assemblea Democràtica del Bages explains the history of this clandestine group that joined the opposition to the Francoist dictatorship. At a time when freedom of expression and association were forbidden, the Assemblea fought bravely to restore democratic freedoms, demand amnesty for political prisoners, and reclaim Catalonia’s Statute of Autonomy.
This tour will help students understand the political repression of that period and reflect on the importance of defending freedom of expression, encouraging civic participation, and upholding the democratic values we continue to protect today.
