DIBUIXA EL BARROC. Taller d’sketching museístic amb Maru Godas (museological sketching workshop)

Take part in the museological and urban sketching workshop held in some of the most iconic spaces of the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya — from the exhibition halls themselves to unique spots like the viewpoint or the cloister of the former Col·legi de Sant Ignasi (Saint Ignatius School).

Blending urban sketching and urban illustration, artist Maru Godas will guide you in exploring your own style and personal way of seeing and narrating the museum and its spaces. We’ll do composition exercises that play with line and wash, and practice mixed media techniques suited to museum sketching — using coloured pencils, Ecoline markers, fineliners, graphite, and more.

Maru Godas is an illustrator and sketch artist specialized in urban sketching and mixed media techniques. She combines her creative work with workshops and travels, where she teaches and practices urban sketching. She has led international workshops in cities such as Chicago, Brighton, Palo Alto, Madrid, Porto, Lisbon, Toulouse, Bern, San Francisco, New York, Réunion Island, and more. She has also served as the director of the illustration festival Compostela Ilustrada in Santiago de Compostela.

Required materials

The activity will focus on dry techniques allowed in art enclosures, with coloured pencils, markers, and graphite.

Each participant will have to bring:

  • A small set of watercolors and a water brush (the ones you usually use).
  • Graphite pencils of varying hardness (e.g., 4B, 8B) and/or a black wax pencil.
  • Coloured pencils (the ones you already have). Please bring: yellow, ochre, pink, salmon, turquoise, brown, dark green, and dark blue.
  • A sketchbook suitable for mixed media techniques, with smooth paper (hot-pressed paper) weighing at least 150 g/m². If you wish, you can also bring additional smooth papers with a firm support surface.
  • Small notebook of thin paper (optional)
  • A folding chair. If you don’t have one, you can contact the museum.
  • A pencil sharpener.
  • A plastic bag or small container to collect pencil sharpener waste.

This activity is designed with the support of Royal Talens, who will provide participants with some materials.
