From July 22 to 31, the festivities will fill the city’s Historic Center with a notable presence of the Baroque theme.
The traditional Sant Ignasi Festival are festive days that from July 22 to 31 offer a program of cultural and touristic activities to highlight the city’s Historic Center and other spaces with an Ignatian footprint.
Organized by the Associació de Comerciants de Sobrerroca, Plaça Major, Sant Miquel i Voltants and with the support of the Manresa City Council and the Fundació Turisme i Fires de Manresa, this year’s edition has an outstanding participation from the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya and the Museu de Manresa, located in the old Col·legi de Sant Ignasi, which joins the events that have been consolidated in recent years, such as the Posta de Sons, with the Leyre Estruch Duo concert on Friday July 26 at the Pou de Llum during the sunset, and at events of a more traditional nature, such as the popular day at the Historic Center and the al fresco dinner on July 31, the feast of Saint Ignatius.
Some of the most relevant news in this year’s program are: the Baroque Heritage Pairing on Wednesday 24 July, in which wine, tastings and pieces of art present in the Baroque Museum are paired; the Tasta el Barroc guided tour on Saturday 27 July, which proposes the discovery of the baroque elements of La Seu and the new Museu del Barroc de Catalunya, in whose cloister a typical breakfast of the period will be served; and the Ignatian landscape itinerary on Tuesday, July 30, which proposes a guided tour through spaces that are away from the city center, such as the Pou de Llum, the Creu del Tort or the Camí dels Corrals, but with a strong footprint of the experience of Ignatius of Loyola in the city.
This year, the program of events will begin with the presentation of the edited collection of all the awarded works with Pare Ignasi Puig i Simon of research since 2014, which will be available online from Monday 22 July in the research section of the Museu del Barroc de Catalunya website.
